How to get "menu" screen to be set without black background

I am following the "Karting Mod" tutorial and the guy has his "Menu" screen to where you see the game in the background but mine is the opposite and it is black/editor screen. I am following step by step but I think it might be because Unity is Upgrading when the doc isn't? Can someone tell me what I should do that could fix this. 1st pic below is mine and the second is his
