I feel sorry for you code asset guys, I very well know the level of competence among the standard users of Unity. This is a price we pay for the ease of access for amateurs with Unity.

I don't really have a solution for you. If they sway away from what can be considered normal support of your product maybe switch to a more shorter language with just links to the Unity doc?

    Thanks for the feels bro.

That's the general gist of what I'm getting. Less effort on replies, more links until the discussion fizzles out. Try to stay level headed and be assertive.

I think as a base you need to make sure the product matches the consumer skill level *as is*. Documentation/videos won't close gaps well there. If it requires some coding, you need to say programming experience required or something to that effect. You can't just put up docs that show example code and expect that to fill the gap.

That and set expectations correctly. If it's a technical asset make sure that's obvious in your advertising.

If someone really wants your product, telling them they need certain pre-requisites won't scare them away. So don't be afraid to stress that part if it's not obvious. Then when someone comes back who is obviously in over their head, it's on them and it's much easier for you to tell them that. You just restate what your advertising said.

When you get someone unreasonable the worse thing you can do IMO is to just say no. Try to be more indirect about it. I like to play innocent/dumb it throws unreasonable people off balance. These people are used to confrontation. If they want to be jerks, don't let them feel like the good guy by playing their game. Just act oblivious and say you know you should probably get someone to help you with the code on that. Or cook up a couple of specific suggestions that you use. Then end it, don't argue or debate. Just walk away.
