    Hey guys,

sorry if im asking in the wrong place, im fairly new to unity and everything related to 3D design and development. My question is how you guys create irregularities in textures. For example a broken wooden floor with some holes, some of the planks being loose etc..

Hope I made my question clear,

    Cheers,

    - J

You have 4 options, but you need to create the by yourself ! That's game design.

1 - You can create all these details on your 3D model, not very efficient, too muche polygons, time-consuming

2 - you can create all of these details by hand on your image texture, and add a normal and displace texture to also simulate the volume of the imperfections without adding polygons ( actually a very good and robust solution to begin with )

3 - you can create a procedural texture by script, and program random irregularities with perlin noises ( very technical )

4 - you can use a third party procedural texture editor like Substance, and there is one included in unity :

I hope it helps to move forward, bye !
