I have a fbx file for 3d character, and separate fbx files for animations. I want to apply those animations to a model but animations do not appear in animations list. How to make fbx animation(s) visible in animation selector list?

Applying animations from from one model on another involves setting up an Animation Controller (ie. the whole Mecanim shebang) so that the various animations can be states in the controller, and then you use that controller on the character. Explaining how to do that is somewhat lengthy, but there are lots of tutorials.

We will be covering the basics of this in an upcoming live training session on Setting up a character. See the learn site and navigate to live training for more details.
