I am having trouble figuring why I can't add a flow maching to a game object. All I get is a state machine. I am trying to add a game start from the my menu I created. can someone explain?

I think the issue you're having is with naming. The component is actually called a Script Machine, previously in Bolt it was called a Flow Machine. You add it to a GameObject the same way as any other component, click Add Component and search for the name. There is also a State Machine component you can use, which is similar but different from the Script Machine.

For Unity 2020.3 you have to manually install Bolt from the asset store. After setting up Bolt you'll find FlowMachine in your components list.
