Question How to access a temp file? or just deleted progress

my computer crashed and I have no idea how I would get my previous scene back, but I surfed the internet for a little while and found that a temp folder is something i could use to get my project back. anybody know how to access that, or another method of getting lost progress back? also, I am on mac, but any solutions are appreciated
