    Hi all,

I'm looking to get started using Unity on my laptop. But I've got a couple of questions...
    1. How much disk space do I need? I'm currently at about 22GB.
    2. Alternatively, is it possible to install and run from an external HDD?
    Thanks all.

By default, is enough to download and install Unity, even few versions. But with running Unity, you will run out of that space quite shortly, is it start collecting logs and other temp files.
Yes. If you install it there.

If you install Hub, you will see all required information there.

That said there are some additional numbers to be aware of. Unity will store additional files in certain locations (eg %AppData% and %ProgramData% on Windows). Currently on my computer these files add up to around 3 GB.

If you are running out of space on your laptop my recommendation is to upgrade your laptop if you're able to do so before you start buying external drives. Ideally with a solid state storage drive because hard drives are insanely slow for some development tasks. Because you'll need an IDE too and Visual Studio wants to install to the main internal drive.
