How hard would it be to make this type of game?

    I was wondering, how hard would it be to make this type of game > http://forums.mfgg.net/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=13195&view=previous That is 3d, yet uses sprites, or should I just make a plan 2d game first.Would it be exactly the same as making a 3d game or 2d game.. I would just like to know,because I would like to make my game kind of 3d.

    Flappy birds is another easy clone for practice.
