How does HoloLens do this? False advertising?

I've been searching through the API, looking for some way to show other people what I see in the HoloLens.

I've had my dreams crushed by this page which implies that the only thing you can do with the camera is take photos or save video to mp4.


But then a friend asked me to check out Skype for HoloLens which appears to do the very thing I've been trying to accomplish.


So how do they do it? If the HoloLens isn't streaming video of what the user is looking at, how can the friend point at things or draw on the wall? Is this false advertising?

Exactly. Magic, right? This is the Unity development forum. How do you go about PROGRAMMING something like Skype for HoloLens? Or did the Skype team just snap their fingers and it was made for them? Because the API to which we have access does not specify any hooks for streaming video.

 

My guess is that they didn't use Unity to do the dev.
