How does 4.3 Sprite Animation function compared to old UV offset method?

    Pretty much as the title says. Does anyone know how this new feature operates behind the scenes?

    I would like my game to be as efficient as possible, so I'm curious as to how this new system functions, to determine whether I should utilize it or stick with my UV offset method for sprite animation.
