On Steam you just click a few buttons to put your game in a sale.

In the Unity Asset store I can't see anywhere to put your asset in a sale?

I think Unity tells you when they're going to put your product on a sale.

Check your asset acceptance email for information on joining the Asset Publishers forum section. You can keep tabs on upcoming sales there. There will be occasional sign-up forms for sales. But in general, as satchell writes, the Asset Store staff curates sales, so they'll contact you if they want to put your asset in a sale.

On the publisher dashboard, you can click on Sign up for Unity Subscriber Discount to sign up for the 20% discount offered to Unity Plus and Pro users.

You can also run your own sales, with some restrictions. You can only run a certain number of personal sales per year. (You can't constantly yo-yo your price.) If you're running your own sale, you won't be included in official sales. And since it's not an official sale it won't get the same publicity. But some publishers have had good success with personal sales by doing their own marketing outside of the Asset Store ecosystem.

I think they should follow the Steam model. It seems to work out very well for them.

For the customers, yeah. Not so much the developers.
