How do you delete a bone in sprite editor

Tutorials say click the bone or black dot of a bone and press delete but this does nothing for me. It just plays the computer "deny" bleep. No backspace delete. No insert-delete. No right click delete option. No ctrl-x. Nothing seems to do anything. What is the secret? Does it have something to do with the box around the hand? I don't know what that is either.

Hey, I have only recently started my project and used the sprite editor for the first time today. Since I ran into the same issue, I found this topic. And I found the solution:
You have to be in Bone-Edit mode (toggled by clicking "Edit Bone" within the Bones box, right underneath Pose box).

I guess you have figured it out a while ago, but this might help others who run into the same issue.

 

Hey I was randomly trying things and I figured out something else that helps if you're on a Mac: HOLD COMMAND while pressing delete.
