This seems like it would be a common thing, but just try searching it.

I'm just doing a getting started tutorial, so I haven't done anything special. Just setting up tilemaps and painting them in.

This sprite sheet obviously wasn't imported with alpha/transparency, and I can't find the setting.

Where is the screen to change this?

If you want to change the transparency of an ENTIRE tilemap, look at the tilemap component in the GameObject you're using for the tilemap. There's a Color field right under AnimationFrameRate. Click on it to open the color-setting popup and change the "A" slider.

However this will change the transparency of ALL tiles. You can change the transparency of a single painted tile by clicking on it with the Palette Brush in Select mode (type 's'). that opens an inspector where you can change the color of a single tile.

    Thanks for responding.

While your suggestion didn't fix it (I had tried the alpha channel), it did lead me to the solution: The tutorial directed to put the detail sprites on a layer separate from the BG sprites. I had put them on the same layer.

Once I put them on a different layer, everything was copasetic.

    Thanks again for the helpsie!
