I don't really wanna use everyplay because on android they even say in the documentation that it's buggy/unreliable at the moment and also the only potential platforms you can use it on are iOS/android and I'll be releasing on more than those platforms

Is there a way I'd be able to do it myself? If so, I'd like to do it that was rather than using something from the asset store

We don't know if there's a way to do it yourself... that really hinges on your skill set and ability to come up with a way to do it.

Obvsly it's doable, since asset store products exist, so if you're asking if it's "possible", of course it is.

All that's left is if YOU can do it...

ohhh, so not wanting to use one from the asset store wasn't about using existing code... it was that you don't want to pay for it.

Have you looked into it? Just googling 'unity free replay plugin' came back with several results.

We don't know what requirements you have... go check out options, and maybe ask more specific questions with clearer details of your needs.

its just that many people on this forum work hard for the assets they release on the asset store and to hear someone who is unwilling to pay for their hard work can be an affront to them.

I can't really speak for lordofduck, but I don't think he intended for his post to be read as elitist.

regardless I do agree with him. its important to try and attempt your own research before asking on this (or any) forum. Many questions asked can usually be answered after 5 minutes of searching.

its also important to try and ask specific questions. many topics, including replay can be pretty broad as there are many techniques for achieving replays. Often you will be unable to get a professional answer without a targeted question. without specific questions you may get flooded with replies that, while correctly answer the question, turns out not to be what you are looking for. And you can get threads that fail to help due to a lack of asking the right question. and again this is true for any forum.

That aside, I do remember that one of the unity live session tutorials that covered ScriptableObjects (by Adam Buckner iirc) briefly revealed a simple replay system for a racing game, which relied on the use of scriptableObjects.

Wasn't intended to be elitist, but rather snarky.

I don't think it would be elitist to ask that you put in some leg work on your part to ask what you mean, since we're putting in leg work to answer questions. I don't see how that's thinking the unity community should be ruled by an elite group...
