How do I add snow foot prints in the snow?

I have created foot print textures but how do I slap them into the terrain texture?

I have played Red Dead Redemption 2 and the snow footprints in that game are nice. How do I do something like those in my game?

I am a bit of a noob here so this is still a blur to me
