I've wanted an additive shader for a little while now... am I missing something? Is this a standard shader that I can't find in Unity?

It is a standard shader that you cant find. in the shaders menu it's under particles you might find what your looking for.

Yeah, cool, that's right. I've used it before with the trail render and it looked great. But I couldn't make it work with regular objects... is this how it's supposed to work (only on particles and lines)?

Well I would think it is only on particles (being under the particles submenu and all) Im sure could make some thing the same for mesh's, but I dunno.

    Ok, ok... good point

I guess I just don't understand why particle shaders work differently than regular ones, or more specifically why something as relatively simple as an additive shader wouldn't be universal?

[edit] your sun/star does look neato by the way... took forever to load though even on my pretty good connection.

well im not the one to ask, way over my head

yeah well the skybox may not have been compressed

I thought it looked like radio active dust but a sun will do. :D

Ok, a green phosphorescent sentient (no, omniscient), enormous gaseous mass just on the precipice of becoming a supernova... now there's an end boss

sync, can you fix the url (it's 404)? people are referring to it in other threads and it was a cool example.

Whoa, very cool shader. to clarify is it available in indie? I got my hopes up about another showcase shader, but it was pro only.

I like the model and scale in proportion to the star, can't wait to see what's next.

    regards,
    Taylor

    Hi Bill,

Just saw this (yes I'm _that_ slow :p ) Wondered, is your globule geometry?

Wow, this thread is old! No its particles, but after messing with it for a while I found that using a sphere with lots of verts and a mesh particle emitter worked best.

    Thanks, Bill
