Hi, i recently started working free with some users found on reddit to build a portfolio and eventually, earn something. I spent a lot of hours on my actual project and i was thinking, what if the manager of the group just deletes me from project when the game is out? How can i protect myself in this case, and be sure to appear in the credits of the game?

This is what contracts are for. If you're serious about this, get a lawyer to draft something solid and get the manager to sign it.

Get a contract, this is work 101 dude.

One other thing that could help in a court case is if you publicly talk about it (like showcasing a demo, dev log, etc) but that really depends on a lot of things, but couldn't hurt.

check these out, especially 201 for your question, but they are all good and should be viewed.
