There are tons of articles and blogposts on the internet on this topic.

I would suggest spending a few hours reading and making up your own mind, what would be the best approach.

There are many factors, such as the quality of your game and past games, the size of your community, the members of your team, your budget etc.

    There is no 'best' way.

I dunno, I brought it way back when it was on an introductory sale for something like $25. I honestly haven't watched it all the way through yet. I've bumped into the producers at various local meet ups. As a general rule I like pushing local peoples stuff.

On the other hand this link is probably far more valuable. And cheaper too.

Contact bloggers and news sites who write about ganes. Show them what you did and maybe send them a copy. There's hundreds of those sites and you have to put quite some effort into it but if your game is good and if you're persistent, some of them might write an article or two about your game. Some of those sites have loooots of readers.

    Create videos of your game.

Make several; but do not release them all at once. Scale them to about 1 video every 2-3 months. Send the videos or links to online gamer magazines, game bloggers, youtubers such as Markiplier, Pewdiepie, jacksepticeye, etc. with a beta version of the game for them to showcase.

Create your own youtube channel for your company with the game videos and game trailers available for public viewing.

If you can, and you have advertisement funds, also check into ad space on published gamer magazines. You will have to discuss this with the magazine editors through their add department for size and costs for the ad.

I would suggest too also create a face book page for your company or game and be very active on it answering questions and promoting it there.

Finally, their is google. For a small fee google can add your site to there cache for searches which will make it come up sooner then later with their crawlers. The more specific the search words used the faster your site can come up on the first 10 or 20 results.

However, I advise too only do this if you TRULY believe in the quality of your game. From the graphics to the actual game play. There is nothing worst then going the whole nine yards as an indie with promotional bombarding across the internet and published sources with what turns out to be a mediocre game. Yes I understand the question "How do I know my game is just mediocre because I think it is a great game?".

I don't know the answer to this; but I still think about whether or not to go through with this type of promotional campaign with a game I make unless I really feel it will finish as a winner in the big race and not just a third runner up.

The one meaningful review for the book gives the impression it is far from perfect. Primarily the reviewer liked the postmortems but truthfully you can find those on here and Gamasutra. You don't need to pay ~$45 for a book.

Same with interviews. You want to know something you can ask here and often people will answer what they can.

By the way there is a Gamasutra article for the "Life of Pixel" game mentioned in that book.

Maybe start by mentioning the name of the game, an maybe even provide a link? If you're keeping it a secret then marketing will be tough, and if you're not then you should probably be shouting the name to anyone who will listen.

As long as the game is ready (marketable enough).

The last thing you want is to start blabbing about some game that no one cares about because it hasn't even made it out of prototype / early alpha yet, with placeholder / ugly art, elaborate ambitions but little completion, etc.

Especially to gamers. I know there is this whole "Early Access" thing now, so this may be old advice, but it used to be that gamers didn't care about your game until they could see something of substance. Whether that is flashy art or the beginning of substance to your grand ambitions. Maybe that has changed, but that's what I remember before all this "Early Access" / "Fund my Prototype!" culture came about.

Sit back and wait for the money to roll in!!
Seriously though - the eyes really add some character to frankin-head. They are animated well and it's a nice fun element added that gives the character some emotion and feeling.
    Nice job.
