    Honnestly the best way to lear about moving characters and many other things about 2D is to do this free Unity tutorial: https://learn.unity.com/project/ruby-s-2d-rpg
    I just finished it and it gives a lot of info on how to start with 2D objects (and moving a character is part of this).
