    Hello my dear friends ,

I have just completed one simple 2d game for android mobile . Only one level I have made .. Game story is not too good .. it is very simple .. How can I improve it more . Can I make it public and work together to make my game more perfect and more meaningful so that I can publish this to android market as a free game .

AS a creator of my game I will not tell that my game is worst .. but still I have a feeling that user may throw it , If I publish at this stage . :(

will any body want to work with me free of cost .

    Please Advice .

    Thanks,
    Abhijit M

If you defined a target group for the game, look for friends that fit the description, show them the game and listen to their opinions. Users aren't always correct but you can figure out what you should concentrate on improving by listening on what they say...

"defined a target group for the game" means 2D or 3D ???

No what he means is that you need to find a group of people you want to make the game for. If you have a 2D game like lets say angry birds the target group would be childeren.

To declare a target group is like declaring an intention to make this game for those people. You look at gender, age, habbits, interest and so on... describe an average person that is supposed to be interested of the game when it is finished.

This help you make decisions and find appropriate people to try the game for you. Let say that you intended to make a game for 40 year old housewives that like books, walks and animals, maybe spend an hour per day on Facebook then you can make some general assumptions...

A 40 year old woman probably got kids and lots of stuff to do at home so play sessions must be short, expect that she can't play more then 5-15 minutes in a row. She can handle facebook so she have some aptitude for tech, she probably got a mobile phone to make it easier for the kids to reach her. That makes a mobile game suitable, books indicate some level of intelligence... intelligent jokes are better then poop humor, she probably got an idea of what is happening around the world from news and what she hear from her kids... possible material for entertainment there? She might be a calm person person because she likes walks, she isn't after all the type to run, probably the kids and everyday tasks that eat her energy... that probably mean that she want to relax when she play games... twitch gaming isn't suited for her but maybe puzzle games without time limitations? She has an affection for animals so that gives you something to work with when making game character and world objects as well... and it goes on...

This is a pretty generic and simplified example of how a game designer thinks...

So now you got a game made for her... what's next? Well find a few women that fits the description, ask them to play the game and listen on what they say... you can guide them by asking what their favorite 3 and worst 3 things were? If several women mention the same things... then you know that this is something that should be kept or something that need to be changed. You can also see while they play if they seem to be confused at some point... what was it? how can you make it less confusing...

Fix the issues that you found and ask the same women (if possible) to play the game and see how they react now... maybe they got new complaints? new problems? back to the computer... maybe they cannot stop playing the game? Great! You successfully developed a popular game... now the question is how you get them to make them spread the game among like-minded women and how you attract women that fit your target group but haven't heard about your game before...

Why don't you create a temporary webplayer build, and post it in the WIP thread? That way we can give you some feedback on it.

I have a question in line with the OPs, so I'm not attempting to derail the thread.
I created my first game not too long ago and, instead of trucking along with Unity, decided to play around with UE4 while working on another 3d model project. Now I'm swinging back around to Unity (because a friend has sparked an interest in learning Unity) and my first question was - should I pickup my last project and expand on it or would I be better served by starting something completely new?

To the OP - I could be wrong but If I have a fully functional level I would release it to start getting some feedback to help drive and direct further development. Or at the least make a post in collaboration to gather some testers and opinions. My suggestion is also based on someone who is still learning and only objective is to improve.

I'd start something new. Unity has changed quite a bit in the last few months, what with 4.6 and the New GUI out. It'll be a good idea to acclimate to the changes. Besides, it means you get another game out!

Oh no, i love the new GUI. I waited until 4.6 beta to create the GUI for that game but I get your point.

Looks pretty good... what is the empty blue space below the ground for? Seems like wasted screen space, but it all depends.

It's a very good thing for a start. There are many people coming to this forum starting with mmo or multiplayer fps or some other kind of impossible project as first game and never get anything done in the end.

I think your game is fine example of small scope start project like they suggest doing in the Extra Credits series :)
