How can I get the same "look" of the original Metal Gear Solid VR missions?

Hey! So I've been thinking about this a lot lately for a project I'm working on and was wondering maybe some unity gurus could shine some light on how I'd do something similar.

In the original MSG I always loved how the VR missions, looked, kind simple geometry with a "cyber" glow around everything. I was thinking how I'd get a similar effect in Unity Indie.

First I was thinking maybe a simple, coloured glow effect on edges might get something similar... then I thought about maybe texture mapping stuff onto the edges...maybe best on coliders or a tilemap...

I think it was all faked in the original. I think probably they just designed the levels with boxes and let the artists worry about texture mapping the geometry by hand...

    What do you guys think?

I think of a rim shader with transparency.

Yes. And the rest is done by shaders, i think.

    More likely just a texture

In the above case, it's textures.

ok. I withdraw my sentence with shader; it was a mistake. I´m not an artist.
