So when I upgraded the unity editor version then downgraded it to the original version, I got this error:

Library/PackageCache/com.unity.2d.common@6.0.1/Editor/InternalBridge/TexturePlatformSettings/TexturePlatformSettings.cs(158,47): error CS1501: No overload for method 'ShowPlatformSpecificSettings' takes 2 arguments

Can someone explain to me this error and a solution to fix this?

    Hi @DDAAVVIID,

You could try deleting the "Library/PackageCache/com.unity.2d.common@6.0.1" folder (or if that doesn't help, the whole "Library" folder) and let the Editor re-install the package. Please note that downgrading the Editor version of projects is generally not recommended as it can lead to unexpected issues like this.

I tried that, And it doesn't work. It says
"The operation "SoftDelete" cannot be executed because the selection or package is read-only.'"
    In the console.

You need to do this outside of the Unity Editor, directly in the file browser (Finder on macOS, File Explorer on Windows). Browse to your project folder, then go into Library then PackageCache, and delete the com.unity.2d.common@6.0.1 folder there.

I also recently encountered this error after a version rollback. Have you found a solution?

Same issue. Deleting Library/PackageCache/com.unity.2d.common@6.0.2 did not work for me.

In my project, the 2d SpriteShape pack was in version 7.#
Downgrading to 5.2.0 solved the problem.
    Unity version: 2020.3.29f1

Heya, I know this is a late reply for this thread but managed to get the same issue when downgrading (Uni wanted a specific unity version of my project so had to downgrade for them) like mateuslucch said some packages need to be downgraded too but Unity doesn't automatically downgrade your packages to fit the version you're using so if you ever get this issue, open your project in safe mode and go to package manager and go through all your packages and "update" (looks more like a downgrade) them to the recommended version and it should fix all issues which means unity will take you back out of safe mode and your project will be fine :D
