Hey guys, I'm pretty new to all this but i'm getting excited looking through the forums and seeing what this community has to offer... I'm wanting to make a small Unity game and then host it on my server (hosted with mediatemple - (mt)) Ive had a look over the forums and grabbed some networking tutorials that you guys have made, really awesome Are there any considerations I need to take into account server side, such as server spec etc...? Also is there any good tut for how to host your game on your server or can you just upload it and play? All help much appreciated, Cheers Guys Regards, Matt / MSFX
Hi and welcome to the forums, i made a small game which runs on a 2.4 ghz intel p4 with 1 gb of ram root-server and it runs without problems. i bet you could even go with less than that. the only problem is that you can only run on windows or mac servers and that there is no headless windows server (until unity 2.6) (headless = without graphic stuff) but its easy, you could even just start your game with NAT punchthrough or forward the game port in your router and host an internet game yourself. ethan
