Help Needed-Hand turning animation not matching preview

    In the following video, you can see I have a hand animation for turning a steering wheel. When I preview the animation in both Maya and Unity, the animation works very well, but when I click the play button, The hands squeeze through the steering wheel and the animation does not match what I see in the inspector. I have tried for 4 days (about 6hrs/day) trying to figure it out. I have tried every possibility I can think of and still no fix. I would list all the various things I've tried, but it would take several minutes reading through it. I would be willing to share all the files and scripts with anybody who would be willing to talk me through this issue or take a crack at fixing it themselves. I use Maya 2018, 3DS MAX 2016, and Unity v 2018.3.4f1 but would export an asset or make a dummy scene if necessary. Thanks in advance.

    I narrowed it down to a problem with the "Blend Tree". When I use a standard animation, the hands don't squeeze through the wheel, but the hands are very jittery. Does anyone have an alternative? Is there another layer I can add to stop the hands from going through the wheel?
