Introduction:

Head Soccer is a fun and challenging casual game template which heavily relies on physics to simulate movements and interactions inside the game.

In this kit, player can control a soccer avatar (consisting of a big head and a shoe!) by moving him left/right or making him jump. The other opponent will be controlled by the AI which has 3 levels of difficulty, each granting a different experience in game-play.

Player can score a goal by shooting the ball to opponent’s field. If the ball touches the ground, the goal is granted.

The kit feature a simple character selection system, so players can play the game with their favorite soccer player (or team).

The game accepts touch (2 fingers at the same time), mouse and keyboard inputs, and thus, can be tested on Android, iOS, WebPlayer and Stand-Alone platforms.

Nice kit ! But I have a question.
Why did you make the game look like Tennis ?
For example, why didn't you add 2 goal nets and a goal is scored when the ball enters the goal net ?

Thanks. This is a well known and popular gameplay, and if you search the app store or google play, you will find a lot of titles with similar game play

But with the current kit, it's relatively easy to change/extend the design and replace the earth trigger with a new goal net. The rest of the kit works as is, and you have a new game with new game play and new rules.

Love the game kit, i think it is very well done and smoothly created. but i am struggling (due to my lack of knowledge) with adding new/more characters to the game! could you explain or show us how to re-skin and add new characters into the game?

 

Hi there,

Thanks for the kind words. To add a new character to the game, please follow these steps:

1. Design 2 new character image (player head) for normal and hit state. Refer to "players" folder in "textures" for more details.

2. In "Menu" scene, add the new player head to the respective array of "MenuController" class.

3. Open "game" scene and select the "player" object in the hierarchy. Then head over to its "PlayerController" class and update its "available avatars" array with your new character (just add it to the end of array as a new item).

4. You are set

Which version of Unity are you using?

 

unity version 5.4.2f2

 

Can you check the kit with Unity 5.3.4? (this is the version this game kit is developed with).

I'll check the kit against Unity 5.4.x asap.

I like your game kit a lot.
One thing I curious is that you're using Mesh Renderer many places in the game such as Cube Mesh, Plane Mesh... for UI components instead Sprite Renderer or UI Image. What are the advantages of this?

Hi there,

This way, you can easily replace the simple meshes with actual 3d models in no time. Likewise, you can easily replace the flat 3d objects with Unity UI elements as well, to make the game fully 2D.

That's why we are using flat 3d models. Hope this helps

Hi. you need to update your Android SDK via sdk manager which is installed on your machine. You can then select the appropriate sdk version from that list.
