HDRP Terrain details wont render

    Im relatively new to Unity in general. I am building a scene with Gaia Terrain Generator using the HDRP setup. Everything works for the most part with some tweaking but no matter what I do, the details (ie. grass and rocks not using the spawner), only render purple. Ive tried saving the 2d grass textures in different formats but no matter what I do, the same purple renders. Does anybody have advice? How do I set up a terrain detail that will work in HDRP? Or is this not supported at the moment? Any advice would be much appreciated!

    For reference the speedtrees had to be setup with lit shaders in order for them to work, but I cannot figure out how to use the 2d textures for grass.

    Hi,
    HDRP have its own way to render thing and its own guidelines for material. Most asset store plugin aren't compatible with it (including speedtree). We have no solution for this currently. (But maybe someone knowing more this plugin have idea).

    I'm having the same problem, not using any 3rd party asset. I'm using HDRP 4.20 (the latest 2018.3 release). I added a grass texture to the terrain details, if I use "Billboard" it doesn't show up, if I don't, it shows up but it's pink. Using unity version 2018.3.b9

    I have the same problem with the grass on the terrain...
    Reproduced :
    - HDRP 3.0.0 (the latest 2018.2.16f1)
    - HDRP 4.2.0 (the latest 2018.3.b9)
    - HDRP 5.0.0 (the latest 2019.1.0a9)

    It's not about plugins. It's about terrain details (grass) in HDRP - it is not rendered.
    This is a bug, or it's just not implemented yet?

    It's not HDRP's responsibility. The tech can do it, but the terrain shader (which is available from terrain) and the grass/tree shaders are the responsibility of 3rd party including asset store or Unity's own terrain team.

    In short, you can do it if you use shader graph to make a corresponding shader. Unity's terrain team would be responsible for a vegetation shader. Ask in world building forum, I guess.

    The idea that LWRP or HDRP are going to cover everything like built-in used to is not possible, so if vegetation rendering is desired by Unity as a thing to support, the terrain team will have to sort it out (as far as I know).

    I want to render a lot of vegetation so I'm going to go with a gpu instanced shader(graph) of my own making and be done with it.

    What this means is HDRP can do it all technically, but you have to do the work to assemble it, perhaps in shader graph or other method for now until a time either the terrain team make a dedicated shader or speed tree decide to provide one... it's not a problem with HDRP itself.

    Hi, Terrain team have been inform about it and they should provide a workaround for 2019.1

    Locked, please direct terrain related questions to the world building forum. It's not the job of HDRP team.
