HDRP Billboards and Terrain Details Shader

    We're using Unity HDRP 4.10 and Unity 2018.3.13 and trying to use detail layers on Unity terrain but all generated details are drawn with the error shader. We have read in multiple posts that this is a known issue and there may be ways to create a custom shader but there is no information on what that shader would look like. We tried the hack at the link here but it didn't work for us.

    Details, like grass and the use of billboards, are essential for just about any game.

    How to build this custom shader? Any information would be greatly appreciated.
