Has the payment method changed for the Asset Store?

I tried to purchase some assets today from the store, and when I clicked the purchase button, instead of the usual layout with windows for filling out my credit card details (card number, expiry date etc), I got an abbreviated version, where the only option was to select credit card or paypal, and then when I clicked purchase, a secure web page opened up in my browser for the remainder of my card details, which is not what I have been doing for the last 18 months. I have never used the 'activate express purchase' option either.

Without being assured it isn't an external hack that has me sending money to some unknown third party, I'm not buying anything for now, so clarification please.
