    Hello everyone,

I see a lot of dicussion here about multiplayer functionality. But looking in the showcase/wip section, I have not yet found games that are multiplayer with Unity.

If there is such a thing, would someone send me a link to it's showcase?

There have been a couple, (search for Castles, and Jashan has been showing some of his work in the showcase section).

The thing is, multiplayer games take a high level of work, time, and investment to develop, so they naturally take a long time to happen. ;-)

There will be lots of others (us included), who have multiplayer games in the works, and over time we will see more and more of them released.

    Hi Whystler,

another aspect you may consider is that explicit support for multiplayer from Unity is a Unity 2.0 feature - so this hasn't been available for such a long time (Unity 2.0 was released less than one year ago).

But feel free to check out the current version of TRaceON (V0.88 ). I'll be away for about an hour from now on, but will keep the game open afterwards, so if you join in, we can have a session ;-)

As Jeremy put it: Multiplayer is challenging in many ways, so it takes its time until something is ready for release...

    Sunny regards,

    Thanks for the info everyone!

Jashan, I went into your great tron game. I have played it before, but it looks even better now!

I tried multiplayer, and it seemed like you were online. I played the game, but when I turned it seemed like something broke, because I lost all the graphics except for the cycle and the cycle's trail.

Also, I'm a bit dim, so I couldn't figure out how to chat. Although, I did see the chat window and other folks chatting.

    Hi Whystler,

yeah - same happened to me, so I decided to restart the server. I've never seen something like that before, but I would assume that it had something to do with the server running for many days but not really doing any work, and - more important - the machine on which I'm hosting the server being on its limits (I have a Webserver, database server and mail server running on the machine aside of the game server; and it only has a ridiculous 1 GB of main memory, so that's where the limit is ;-) ).

    Maybe we can try again?

Btw, for chatting, you just need to click into the text box on the lower part of the chat window, type your message, and enter return. There are, unfortunately, a few issues with the chat in that version, but it work "okay" ;-)

    Sunny regards,
    Jashan

... ok... a server reboot fixed it... guess I really should rent a dedicated server without so much other stuff running on it ;-)

Just wanted to say that the game is looking really good and its a hell of a lot of fun to play.

    Keep it up!

btw: How about a proper Showcase-Thread?

See http://forum.unity3d.com/viewtopic.php?t=11510 for the showcase thread ;-)

... but this illustrates nicely some of the issues one might run into (at least if one goes the route of having an authoritative, hosted server ;-) ).

Well... some more examples of multiplayer games in the showcase area:

    Netrix v1.1 is available!

    A small (multiplayer) race game

Free Sky - multiplayer space shooter
    http://forum.unity3d.com/viewtopic.php?t=10768

... well, that's just a few examples you get if you search for "multiplayer" in the Showcase forums...

WolfQuest is not an MMO. Taken from the WolfQuest forum:
