    GPFX
GPFX is a collection of Gaussian Post Effects for Unity 5 Professional.

GPFX produces very smooth and natural looking effects, while preserving artistic freedom. The core of the effect framework builds a state-of-the-art optimized Gaussian distribution implementation guaranteeing high-quality results.

The main feature is not performance, but high-quality effects. Nevertheless the included Gaussian Bloom is slightly faster than Unity's standard Bloom.

    Asset Store

    Included Effects
    • Gaussian Blur
    • Gaussian Bloom
    • Gaussian Dual Bloom
    • Anamorphic Lens
    • Dizzy Blur

Will there also be a public beta? Maybe also some free copies? ;)

I'd be very interested in testing this asset! Alas, I've found most post-effect assets on the store disappointing, contrary to popular opinion.

Looks great, looking forward to see how this stacks up against Scion.

All GPFX filters are based on an optimized Gaussian algorithm which produces really smooth highlights and natural looking lens effects. But you pay for it with a non-mobile-friendly runtime characteristic.

We are also looking forward to your comparsion. As done with Map Lab, we want to develop GPFX according to the needs of the Unity community. For this reason we want to shorten the time-to-customer and release GPFX in a beta state.

My focus is primarily desktop and console, so the lack of mobile support doesn't concern me. Thank you for making this clear, though!

Looks and sounds very promising! Can't wait to get my hands on :)
I don't care about mobile performance, too

You can probably get your hands on it today. We'll publish the first 10 beta copies in the next few hours.

I cant imagine much replacing scion for my current post fx bundle given the results it gives but im interested in seeing how this might complement it

GPFX is not intended to be as a replacement for any post effects bundles, as it is not a complete after fx package. GPFX concentrates on some core parts of a post effects pipeline and is not an all-in-one solutuion. So you are right it's just complementary to any all-in-one solutions like Scion.

Sounds very interesting then! I love free stuff (even when i end up buying it) so ill keep an eye out, should be able to post back results if they seem good. Seems like it could be good for glow effects seperated from an overall bloom?

Yes of course. Just put one of the GPFX components in you camera stack and start tweaking. :)

After an excessive programming day it's sometimes indeed a good idea to tend your zen garden and do some artistic stuff. :)

Here are some screenshots, maybe I haved used GPFX a bit too heavy ;)!
For now "Gaussian Dual Bloom FX" is my favorite one. All fx offers detailed settings, even at a low resolution (quarter) the bloom / blur fx results looks very good.
