So I have had a long standing issue with exporting a model from Sketchup 2014 to Unity (any versions). The issue is, that when I export a model, untextured surfaces are completely invisible (if both sides are untextured the entire asset is invisible), some asset pieces just wont transfer properly, and on some pieces it destroys a texture image down to a solid, unchangeable color. I have been looking for the past few days, and so far every single solution is either now invalid, the link to the instructions are gone, or they are simply unintelligible to attempt to use. I'm not a genius with computers and dont have a lot of money, so I'm looking for a cheap and easy solution to this issue.

How are you exporting the sketchup models to Unity?? (Which format?)

I think this issue could be related to the face normals.

Sketchup is tricky with the face normals (as far as I know yoou can not see the normals without an addon in 2015 version). I use this addon to visualize and handle the face normals.

    I hope this helps.

    Try to avoid completely Sketchup!

It is not suited at all for 3d engines.
