    Since 2021.1.11f1, the following error prevents compilation when including the Google EDM package:

    Code (csharp):
    1.
    2. Assembly 'Assets/External/ExternalDependencyManager/Editor/Google.IOSResolver_v1.2.164.dll' will not be loaded due to errors:
    3. Assembly name 'Google.IOSResolver' does not match file name 'Google.IOSResolver_v1.2.164'
    4.
    This works fine in 2021.1.10f1 and before. It also fails in 2021.1.12f1.

    Upgrading EDM to 1.2.165 doesn't work either due to another, unrelated issue.

    FYI :)

    https://github.com/googlesamples/unity-jar-resolver/issues/441

    TL;DR;

    This seems to be an issue introduced from Unity 2021.1.11 and still occurs with Unity 2021.1.12 (release note, patch).
    • Scripting: Editor logs an Error whenever the filename of an assembly does not match its name. (1109539)
    The quick workaround is to rename Google.IOSResolver_v1.2.165.dll to Google.IOSResolver.dll. Though, make sure you remove this library manually next time when you upgrade EDM4U.

    It seem this problem still occur in 2021.2.0b10 but not in 2021.1.19f actually it will be gone only when open project continually but still occur when try to reimport packages

    @JoshPeterson is this related to 1345099 ?

    1. Just delete Assets/ExternalDependencyManager folder (or from package manager if you have added to packages)
    2. Import the latest package(EDM4U) from here.

    Check if you have it in packages manifest. If its in there it will get added so delete it from the manifest file.

    Meanwhile I realized that since I don't use IOS platform (yet) I didn't installed it in my Unity.
    However, every package somehow needs that.
    Therefore I added IOS platform to my Unity via Unity HUB and it solved all of my weird problems that even couldn't solve why.

    If you are not building for android you can uncheck the Auto references and validate References. With this will not produce error. Then when you building for IOS check it again and you will have no issue. I am doing same and it work for me.
    Some time on IOS the android library create issues, i do same for them too.

    Is there finally a solution to this? It doesn't work in Unity 2022 after importing the FB SDK in Unity.

    Did you try these solutions already?

    Solution 1
    1. Just delete Assets/ExternalDependencyManager folder (or from package manager if you have added to packages)
    2. Import the latest package(EDM4U) from here.

    Solution 2
    Check if you have iOS module installed for your unity editor. If not, install it from unity hub.

    Solution 3
    Check if your package manifest has EDMU listed. EDMU comes with auto adding the scopes to registry. This makes it installable in packages. So try deleting the entry if it exists in manifest.json and import latest from here.

    Now I downloaded version 16.0.0 (not the newest but exactly 16.0.0) of the FB SDK for Unity, imported it and unchecked the "editor" in the inspector of the files which throw the errors. So far, I got everything to work.
