Supporting Devices due out this Fall.
Some devices already do, so not seeing what the big deal is.
Do they cool, just thought that as Vulkan will be coming to Android Phones soon, Unity might have an update on Vulkan?
I believe Aras was involved with Vulkan (at least when it was called glnext), so I guess they're going to do it at some point.
Not seeing it as a really high priority though.
I would have thought that the Mobile Game Engine would be seriously working on this, are we just waiting for a big reveal event?
From the Blog post on May 19th 2016; "We also announced today that we will be supporting Vulkan, and plan to give early access to developers in Q3 of this year."
Now I think the Vulkan announcement is worth it's own blog post, not just a side note to Google's VR initiative.
Maybe it's mentioned only there cause Android might be the first platform with the support and desktop to follow sometime in future with lower priority.
Well, Android will be the main platform that will benefit from Vulkan after all.
Why are you pushing so much for this? Do you have a game that would benefit from Vulkan?
It's interesting, but it's not that big news. It's not going to be a magic performance improver if that is what you're expecting.
What about Linux wasn't Steam going for it's own Linux based hardware platform.
And if you look at Steam's hardware platform data 37.38% have DX12 or Vulkan level hardware on a sub Win10 OS!
Well... http://hwstats.unity3d.com/pc/os.html It's not really the year of Linux on the desktop yet.
Maybe but it definitely is the year of DX12 / Vulkan capable Hardware > 70% on steam.
Wait, wasn't this about mobile?
Again, do you have a game that needs Vulkan support?
Apple's OS X isn't faring much better. Have to wonder if those percentages for both aren't simply developer machines.
Any updates on Vulkan API now DirectX12 is out?
