    Hello!

Just wanted to show off something I've been working on for a while now. It's sort of a hybrid between Dungeon Keeper and Populous. The terrain is procedurally generated and the plan is to make the gameplay somewhat like Dungeon Keeper, only add more of a "free roam"-touch to it where you have to explore a continent while keeping your people safe from enemies and other environmental hazards. You'r villagers can dig and build (Minecraft style) to make shelters, re-route water, lava etc.
I got a couple of vids below and you can follow the development on my blog (link in signature) if you're interested.

    Digging/Building

    Different types of terrain.

    Hiding/Unhiding terrain levels.

    Old video showing dynamic water.

    this looks neat :)
but pretty low pasted. it looks like you will get bored pretty fast. unless there will be added more interactive stuff to play with.
i still look forward to see more of this project :)

    Thanks for the comments.
There will be alot more to do than just ordering your villagers where to dig and build. You'll get powers that you can use to aid (or punish) your people with, and when it comes to battles you'll be able to guide them more directly.
I'll post updates in this thread and hopefully upload a playable demo sometime in the near future :)

    Thanks!
A friend of mine has done all the art and he's mad skilled! I'm only the code monkey ;)
I played the crap outta DK and populous back in the day and I've always wanted to do something similar, only on a bigger scale.

I really like the style and the feel of it. Looks like a really nice solid base to add gameplay to. Just one question though - why does the water have different levels?

    Thanks :)
Uhm, that's the terrain beneath the water. The water is semi-transparent.

The current build still has some nasty bugs and needs a bit more optimizations, but I'll make sure to post as soon as I've upped a playable version :)

Amazing, but one thing I would suggest is setting the opacity of the hidden terrain levels to 50%, not totally transparent, I think it would help players realize where they are.
