    This just hit our newsroom:

Edit: I just corrected the above to reflect that the feature has been delayed one week. So it's January 26th, same time, same channel.

Rock on! Would someone volunteer to tape the segment and share it out for those of us who won't be able to watch the first time?

wow, this looks fantastic. i'm really interested in the gameplay, how choices affect outcomes, what practical aspects you are in control of etc. i imagine getting it all to work realistically with the AI environment must have been quite a challenge.

i don't know if i've said it in the past but this is such a great idea for interactive media (and so important topical a subject), glad somebody is attempting it ; )

It looks like CNN.com has a video streaming service. It doesn't seem too expensive, $3 a month with your second month free. It uses Windows Media Player 9, and Mac users are instructed to install that and run Safari in Rosetta. Heh. Their free trial worked fine in Flip4Mac.

I may still do it, unless someone has a better idea. :)

I just got word that the feature was delayed one week (to the 26th). So it's next week; same channel, same time.

Edited the original post to reflect that.

ok, i'm extremely sorry, the recording turned out to be worthless.
i have about 4 minutes of a media discussion panel preceeding the serious games report.

(my dad confessed he turned it off because he didn't knew what was going on – i told him before but i guess he forgot because of the one week delay)

bummer! i hope somebody else caught it!?

I taped CNN from 2pm to 4pm EST, and it wasn't there. Just a bunch of talking heads telling each other about a kidnapped child who had just been found. Since it was "breaking news" it took them about an hour to give out about 5 minutes worth of information.

Perhaps I should have been taping one of CNN's sister channels?

Yeah, we should all get broadcast signals displayed over the water in our toilets by using fiberoptic self-cleaning cables that have the technology to rearrange themselves in real-time so that our signal doesn't get distorted if the water moves! >_> Never mind. As soon as this is on the web I will watch it.

I know that for me here in San Francisco I was unable to watch the segment at all. The reason is that the show, International Correspondents, is aired on CNN International (yes, a sister station) and we don't get that channel here. <sigh>

Oh well, I went to CNN's site and signed up for their video on demand service (thanks for the tip John :) ) and watched it from there. The on-demand piece is titled "Virtual reporting" and it's a 3-minute segment on the game. Simon from Serious Games is interviewed by a CNN reporter. They discuss game play and the overall goal of the game in that it might help folks see the issue from another point of view. All the while a demo reel of game play is being shown, with occasional edits to Simon being interviewed.

Congrats to all the guys at Serious Games for finding their way on to CNN like that! 8)

Tip: you can sign up for a year of CNN's on-demand video service (requires credit card info ), then cancel at no cost within two weeks. That is plenty of time to sign up, watch the "Virutal reporting" segment, then opt out... ;)
