GIF Maker

    This implementation for Unity3D allows you to record and save GIF animations in runtime. It will be very useful for creating small GIF animations of gameplay that may be shared on the web.

    It uses RenderTexture component to capture the frames and NGif for encoding GIF files. NGif based on LZW image compression and Neural Image Quantization algorithms which runs in thread for better performance.Working on standalone and mobile platforms.

    NOTE! It uses FileStream class so you won't be able to save GIF files from Web Player.

    Features:
    • Easy! All you need is three methods from GifMaker class: StartRecord, StopRecord and SaveGif
    • Flexible configuration(delay, repeat count, quality, size)
    • Encoding process runs in thread for better performance

    Yes, tested on mobile platforms. But you need to know that creating long animations with high resolution may affect to performance.

    I just bough this asset. Is it possible to have a version for unity 4.6 ?

    Unfortunately not. It uses Unity PRO Render To Texture feature that become free in Unity 5. Anyway, if you have Unity 4.x PRO you can try to copy package files in Unity 4.6. That should work.

    I use Unity pro, but the package can't be open on 4.6.

    That's right, packages from newest Unity version is not compatibility with older version. But if you drop root folder of package to your Unity 4.x project it should work.

    Plugin does not work with Mobile platforms, it does not save to file stream.
    tested on Unity 5, both compilers, IOS 8.

    We have same problem as pixelshader. This plug in wont save for mobile. If this doesn't work, we will be returning. Please advise. thank you.

    For some reason when I capture a gif that has terrain , the terrain doesn't get rendered but everything else works. I checked the render layers and everything is fine.
    Have you ran into this problem before?
    I'm using iOS and Unity 5.0.2p4

    Hello, I just bought this plugin and i am running the example scene into my Unity 5.3.2f1.
    It's working fine in Standalone but i need this to run the scene and save the GIF file in IOS and Android,

    But it's not working,
    Can anyone help me ?

    Do i need to change the destination path or something else for IOS and Android?

    It working fine in Android but not able to file location where it saves the GIF file

    Also @V0odo0 is it possible to edit the Filestream part of the plugin to maybe an MemoryStream (or any other option avaliable on unity webplayer)? The source code is open to do this?
    Because i will need to do an webplayer app that generates GIFs and saves them online

    does the plugin work fine on mobile IOS and Android? I see many users asking and no one reply unfortunately.
    Moreover, does someone used it with Vuforia? Do you know if it works?

    Can't get any compression working, the quality setting doesn't make the file any smaller or look any different.

    Any fixes?
