After testing the GI for a while, I've run into some issues:

Ambient Intensity will light indoor walls/etc strangely. Doesn't seem fixable (other than making it 0), even when closing off the door, and removing the skybox to make an indoor scene. Bounce Boost (General GI) can bridge the differences it a little, but doesn't fix it.

The Directional Light creates splotches of light indoors, even when facing away from a building. Only fix is to turn off Bounce Intensity on the light itself, which means no bouncing outdoors

A lot of the parts don't play well together. The only real solution I can think of is some type of zoning system that could give us more detailed GI in areas we specify.
