Does anyone know how to fix this error? I searched it on the forums, but no one solution works.

    I'm getting these errors:

Copying assembly from 'Temp/UnityEngine.UI.dll' to 'Library/ScriptAssemblies/UnityEngine.UI.dll' failed

Copying assembly from 'Temp/UnityEngine.TestRunner.dll' to 'Library/ScriptAssemblies/UnityEngine.TestRunner.dll' failed

I tried to uninstall and reinstall Unity as well, but with a fresh install I still get that error.

So I can't test anything due to it having that compiler error, but I need to get my assignment done for class. If I can't fix this, then I'll likely fail the class since I won't have anything to turn in.

I had this same problem yesterday and happily fixed it after copying the Temp/UnityEngine.TestRunner.dll file manually to the folder Library/ScriptAssemblies, which did not have the dll in there for some reason. After that all the errors went away for me. Hopefully this helps anyone out there. Good luck.

Like others have mentioned on other similar posts, there seems to be a sync problem between Unity and Dropbox. To confirm, for those using Dropbox make a copy of project folder into a non Dropbox folder and open project to check if the error still shows up. Using something like Github instead of Dropbox seems to fix the issue for certain users.

Similar problem. I went in to try and manually move it to the Library folder, and Temp has no file named 'UnityEngine.UI.dll'. Same issue with 'Temp\Assembly-CSharp.dll'... So far, no idea how to handle this...

I ran across this same error today. Moving the DLL didn't help. Then I realized I turned on Windows ransomware protection. I had to exclude Unity.exe, UnityShaderCompiler.exe VBCSCompiler.exe and also the project folder.

You have to "Manage Ransomware Exclusions," or "Allow an app through controlled folder access."

It would surprise me if this helped everyone here. But maybe this will help someone (later, if not now).

    Best wishes to all,
    Leland
