Getting back into Unity - Visual Studio install on mac?

About three years ago I was heavy into unity, published a game on mobile platforms, blah blah blah.

I have a new mac and have Unity installed. I noticed that visual studio isn't included in the install anymore, weird but anyway. I went to install Visual Studio and it is saying that I need to have Parrallels installed also and it's $99 a year?

I really liked the Visual Studio editor when I used it before. What's everyone doing to get Visual Studio installed? I see that there are alternatives to Parallels but wasn't sure which one the Unity community suggested.

i don't know what the alternatives are.. vs code, rider (paid) perhaps?

 

Thanks for the reply. I saw that. I guess I will just use VS for Mac until then and then see what the alternatives are at that time when they drop support.

 

It's missing breakpoints but there's also Script Inspector 3 which runs inside of the editor and is very lightweight.
