Get distance from AR Occlusion Manager?

Hey

I would like to measure (estimate) how far away people are. I'm thinking of using the AR Occlusion Manager.
Is it possible to get the depth (distance) somehow to an occluded person?

The goal is to avoid crashing into people using AR, and I think that AR Occlusion works bettter than using Human Body Tracking with a skeleton..

 

The image returned from AROcclusionMangerTryAcquireHumanDepthCpuImage consists of pixel values where each pixel is the distance in meters to a human, or is 0 if there is no human.

 

Here is an example script. It prints the depth in meters at the depth texture's center and works both with ARCore and ARKit:
