I am considering the name for my next (mobile) driving game and I am wondering what the research has found in naming conventions of using a common name, such as, Drift Extreme, or something vs something random that sounds cool like, Ardveneous (Or something :p). Will I get lost in all of the other "Drift" named games or will It be beneficial to be found when using that keyword. Will I stand out with a unique name or never get found in the search?

I don't just want to be another xxx Drift xxx game amongst hundreds. Or should I join in?

    Recommendations?

Good looking girl looks good whether her name is Sarah (generic) or Braunhildegard (not generic).

Let's see the screenshots. The teasers. The gameplay demos. If these look the same as everything else -- meh. Unique name won't fix that.

Even if your game is same as everything else, a little photoshop magic and an artistic eye can help set you apart.

Come on. What's it take to use a name like "clutch kick," which would indicate some actual understanding of drifting, that isn't reliant on the 8th grade vocabulary of a market researcher? It's not hard.

What research are you referring to?

If you want a real answer you're going to have to do research for yourself. You could survey your target audience, try to find stats on other games based on their name (though that won't tell the whole story), look at something like Google AdWords stats for different search tems and demographics/geographics... stuff like that.

Even if I could give you a concrete recommendation, why on Earth would you trust it? Anyone can mash any ol' junk into their keyboard.

Names don't matter as much as we think. Chances are, people will discover your game by searching, scrolling or randomly or thru a recommendation or ad you pay for. In none of those cases will they be required to know your game's name by memory.

I have loved quite a few games that I couldn't remember their proper name. Movies and books, too.

Maybe if you were going to market your game to audiences of untold millions, you'd pay to AB test your game title. But that's about it.

Great names are retroactively formed by great products.

I would worry more about the SEO and keyword optimisation of the description.
