I wasn't able to go this year, but I'd be curious to hear some gossip from people on the floor. If anyone reading this is at GDC, please attend this and report back:

I second that. Been following the tweets of some of the Unity Staff, but it's mostly teasing ;)

Probably NVidia has coded an external dll or something to implement DX11 support, I don't think it means Unity has implemented it?

I follow @aras_p on twitter. He's a Unity engineer and he often tweets about DX 11 stuff he's working on.

Also, a twitter friend of mine was at GDC and asked the folks at the Unity booth about supporting Windows8-Metro (WinRT) which is built on DX 11.

Here is what he was told:

    Gives me hope. :)

Guessing, if true, this would all be in the Unity 4.0 timeframe or later.

and in 3.5 there is shader error,
"Shader warning in '..': Compiling shaders to OpenGL ES 2.0, Xbox 360, PS3, Flash or DX11 requires both vertex and fragment programs at line 17"

Thx for posting that pdf, there seem to bee nice things, but sadly if i read it correctly no detail tessellation only normal one:/
Also i dont see dx11 as crutial as new lighting system in Unity that would pair up with UDK and Cry.

Having trouble downloading it, when it does finish it gives an error "this document is damaged and cannot be repaired"??? Wth, am I the only one? I uninstalled and reinstalled Adobe Reader and it still pukes, so weird.

    EDIT:

Nvm, apparently had something to do with slow dl speeds, it was stalling out and dl'ing at < 5 kbp/s, downloaded it again in a blink and its fine.

Wow that was awesome. I really like the APEX destruction, I've always hated shooting a rocket at a wall that leaves nothing but a black mark, makes the realism so much more. Funny there was a discussion not too long ago about users wanting that and here it is.

Also with the shaders, does that mean great new capability? I don't know enough about them to understand what is what. Hippo you were saying you wanted better shaders, are those them? Seems like that doesn't target mobile though, or does it, would it be fast enough?

From what I understand they integrated nonrealtime shaders into unity. If that is how it is, why? If that isn't how it is, tell me more.

Would be great having the ability to render high quality cinematic videos using the nonrealtime shaders in Unity!

If you can render non-realtime realistic shaders you can bake in much more realistic scenery.

From what I understand, "nonrealtime shaders" are non other but baked shaders ?
If so, Unity would finally get up to date with UDK (Infinity Blade is full of baked shaders effects). That's very good news.
