For some reason I am getting a cropped and distorted view in game view while preview of Main Camera (I have only one camera in scene) in scene view looks normal and has a better fov. Why that may be happening and how can I fix it ?

Is the zoom level on your Game window set to 1x?

No, the scale is lowest possible (like 0.40 or something).

How can the FOV be different on main camera and the game view ?

That's exactly the problem, the scale should be set to 1.

It can. There are separate cameras after all.

I am not saying that it is the cause in this case, but it might be worth checking in. I noticed that you are using stereoscopic rendering so maybe there is something more to it and I am not familiar with it.

I was not talking about this camera tho. I have the main camera preview on Scene view. That one renders correctly, but the actual game view is not the same as the main camera render.

It doesn't matter if I change the scale to any other value or 1.
