    Hi,

I am curious to know if other people like to work on game development during the weekend or prefer to spend their weekends with people, playing games, and other non-development activities.

    Thanks

Game Development doesn't have to suck up your whole day. It can though, especially in the beginning.
I personally have a family so I find some time during nights and weekend nights.

I love working on game development during the weekend. It takes up most of my time because I have no life. lol.

The thing is, as a hobbyist who has little financial capital to spend on games, the weekends are a bastion of my productivity. On weekdays, I try to devote 3 hours to my craft, but unfortunately, that's not a lot, and as the amount of polish a game needs increases, every minute counts.

I have a long commute during the week, and I try to at least do something every day, whether I want to or not. Weekends are optional.

On top of my full time game dev job, I try to get about 15-20 hours a week done on my monster truck game.

I will work a couple of evenings during the week, on the weekend I work one whole day, and try take another whole day off from looking at a computer screen. Get out the house, get fresh air, go to the beach, or just go somewhere out of my home and work routine bubble.

I believe this keeps my sanity (and my eyes) intact.

I have school work to focus on so I can only program during the weekends due to homework and projects. It is especially time consuming during the week because I am taking all AP classes. The weekends are my release from the world of reality and into the world of game development where life still sucks haha

Thankfully, this coming Wednesday I am graduating from highschool and thus, I will have a 4 month break. In this 4 month break, I can see every day feeling like a weekend. I hope to get so much done, due to the obligations that no longer guilt me :p
