Game Developer Pets

Let's be honest, game developers have pets. Pets are basically core team members in our games. I want to know:

Who are your pets?
What is there "job title" in your team?

I have on dog his name is buddy. And hes my grand wizard.
He controls all spells going into and out of the game(s).
And for anyone who displeases me he makes voodoo dolls and eats them .

Aside from that he gives me anti-cheat advice

Well I was gonna name him something Roman (my heritage). But at the time I was still young and mom didn't want me too lol.

But I got buddy from the movie(s) called Airbud or whatever. Loved them movies.

 

Meet Ripa (Ripper), my ~9 year old Saluki Greyhound and best buddy. Every 8pm he starts moaning that he wants his favourite bacon-flavoured treat and every 8pm he gets it. He's a rescue dog, scarred and missing teeth but he's calm.

He's more than a mascot, maybe 'team-timekeeper', given he appears to know when 8pm hits.

2 cats that tolerate me and are generally poor product managers tbh. It's as if they don't really care about crunch or overtime, so long as they get results.

I have 2 Staffordshire Bull Terriers called Neo (Yup from the Matrix) & Saffy, although I call her Rofl because she's always Roffling. Anyway, they're both Security at my company. Here's a picture of them hard at work in the office. Ahem:

I have three. One Shiba named Keada - the Alpha, a Cavachon named Romeo - hypoallergenic and Mr. loving to all that will allow it, And the kitty is named Molly, because she was supposed to be a fish (that's a story), but I call her Meatball because if the apocalypse ever happens - she's the first one to get eaten.
All demanding bosses who constantly beg for food, attention and inside/outside - inside/outside - inside/outside all the time.

 

My dog is actually part Greyhound! He's more Greyhound than anything. But he's Brendal lol. I LOVE my dog like what! lol.

 

Brin and Minerva. Minerva often walks across my keyboard and occasionally writes some code for me. She's not very good at it though. I've actually left some of them in my code in between "/* */".

 

My partner is Cody the Molukkan Cockatoo. Her job is office smart ass.

His job is to keep us safe from murderers (which includes wind, shadows, neighbors, other dogs, small children, friends, family, couriers, etc). If it moves or makes noise. Its a murderer (also includes round objects like swiss balls)

I have two little monkeys. They take on the role of art direction and play testers. If I can keep them engaged for more the five minutes I have a best seller.

Here's Olive (sometimes Olivia when she's being particularly posh). She tries hard to get involved in the development process but mostly she's there for moral support.

Definitely love this post. Here is my Bentley (Black Goldendoodle) and Morgan (White and Tan Labradoodle). They make sure I don't sit too long when I wake up. They also get me to do something, motivators and the best buds.

This is Gilly (Adam Gilchrist Emerald City). He's my oh&s officer. He makes sure I take breaks away from my desk by coming into the study & letting one rip so I have to go outside to breathe.

Yeah I have my pet rock in charge of marketing.

 

The networking alone must be fantastic

 

We have 5 cats, only two were planned, the other three adopted us. And we have one brand new puppy! Dante is 9 weeks old, very sweet little guy. Our cat Chloe, one of the cats who found us, looks very similar to your Minnah, @holliebuckets

 

Both of these guys have passed away in the last couple of years. My daughter is allergic and gets bad asthma attacks so we haven't gotten new cats.


This is Puddifoot, aka Houdini cat, aka Devil's Spawn. He got the nickname Houdini cat from escaping from a basement bathroom. He first took down a flattened cardboard box taped across the window well, then pulled down a box inserted into the window well and then managed to push open the window latch locking the window and then open the window. He got the nickname Devil's spawn from relatives. He would sit in the middle of the hallway and stare down guests and if they tried to pass him he would swat at them. For me he was our most cuddly cat. He would always be sitting beside me or trying to sit on my lap.



This is Wasabi, aka Scaredy cat. He was the most gentle cat. Here he is trying to hide in the sink after moving to a new apartment.

Here's my lead programmer, Carla. As you can see, she comes from time to time to help me or shout at me for doing something stupid. Fortunately, the shouting can stop with a few treats.

 

Life wouldn't be complete without something to trample your keyboard every twenty minutes while you try to work.
