So I had a few days to myself before the next big project started and I decided to mess around with flight physics. In just 2 days I came up with something rather interesting. I designed the physics completely with forces applied to rigidbodys, and it turned out being very realistic.

In the video below is a simulation of a futuristic fighter jet with hover and super sonic capabilities. I very much enjoyed flying this and when I have time I really want to continue developing this. I was thinking of turning this into a dog fighting multiplayer game. Would be super fast paced and tons of fun and adrenaline.

Ohh Well done! It looks really fluid and smooth. Is it any chance that you could possibly upload a webplayer?

No Dogfight without Energy (Kinetic and Potential) Fighting. Your model seems to be moving in weightlessness.
Fly on the 'stomach' or the back does not seem to make any difference. So, no need to learn the Air Combat Maneuvering (ACM). BTW, this is why i think Star Citizen will fail about the dogfighting things (this and the 'circular omnipotent' radar).

    Yes, i'm a big fan of Falcon 4. :p

There is no weightlessness. Just a ton of energy applied to the forces of the rigid body(This is the future afterall). If you fly you can feel the resistance in both thrust and rotation. If you fly on your back you begin to loose altitude, this is because of the 'lift' I simulated. Also, if you go under 100 kmph you begin to loose altitude as well.

In the beginning of the video I take off using hover. If I let go of the hover I will drop right away. You can see a loss in altitude when I begin moving forward because I let go of the vertical thrust a bit too soon. :)

This would be interesting if you could switch to first person and play with the Oculus Rift. Very well done!

Falcon 4 BMS, you can't get better than that. Hope one day to build a fully functional pit for the sim.

For sure. If this were to continue I think fun fast paced gameplay would be more of a focus than realism, after all it's the future so you can really go in any direction you want. I'm a planetside 2 player and I fly a lot in that game and really enjoy slaying everyone. :)
