From which 3rd party can we import?

    I would like to have a thread on which the community post their experiences importing from 3rd party tools, for example which ones works, which ones dont work and which ones needs some tweaking.

    For example my understanding is that:

    Blender files
    SketchUp files
    .OBJ files

    Do not work in Unity3D Linux version.
    Community could you please share what app do you use for modelling? or which app you use for converting to FBX which in my case has been the most compatible one.

    .obj/.mlt are working fine in mine. If you've exported materials from windows you might have to check paths in correct format...
    .blend worked, then broke, then was fixed and is broken again now. This this is a unity issue which they aren't updating correctly on changes to betas? Think windows is having same issue.

    I use blender and export as blend ( depending on unity version if it works ), or export as fbx or obj. Haven't tried fbx or blend for animation, I'm a programmer just testing stuff right now.

    Blender is 2.72b unity is 5.4.15. 5.3.? work for blend with me for .blend. Then stopped with 5.4. But some are saying some 5.4 build work.
    Have you tried .fbx it works but you ( at least I ) had to scale the export from blender. I thought it wasn't exporting but it was tiny. You can change export scale in blender. There videos online if you don't know how. It just a couple of clicks.

    Thank you for your information, blender exports to FBX do look with a weird scale but not too tiny like you.

    I find collada (.dae) exports much better and to scale from Blender than FBX.
