Just found out that a bunch of assets from Infinity Blade are now free on the Unreal Engine Marketplace. It's always nice to have a collection of free art assets that are stylistically consistent.

I don't know how their marketplace works though. Anybody else know if it would be possible to use this stuff in a Unity project or if it's tied somehow technically and/or legally to Unreal Engine?

You can probably extract the content(or some of it) and import into Unity or whatever 3D engine you prefer, the legality or it is another thing.

The Epic marketplace seller terms and conditions states the following:

Personally i think it's a slippery slope to do so even if permitted, make original content and use that for any product you intend to sell, as these are obviously intended for people to learn from and are easily recognisable for the many users who have played Infinity Blade.

    From the announcement:

    Infinity Blade Collection

As our gift to developers, you can now download thousands of assets from the Infinity Blade universe for free in the Unreal Engine Marketplace!

Three impressive dungeon environments, two massive character packs, many sound and visual effects, and a host of melee weapons are available, no strings attached.

This content has been produced at the quality level players have come to expect from our successful mobile franchise, and represents a $3 million investment in art and sound design. We're excited to see what you make with it.

Of course... it WOULD be shady of me to make an awesome NEW GAME from these assets titled:

    UNENDINGLY LARGE EDGED WEAPON

    From this Reddit thread...

So... looks like you can only use them in UE4 games.

EDIT: Ok, further down in the thread:

That's ridiculous! If I was 15... or maybe even 85... I probably WOULD make a whole ton of games in Unity based on this content just to force their hand and enjoy the long drawn out court battles. How hilariously pompous that would be of me! :)

No, you can use them, but you owe the 5% royalty if you do.

I sincerely doubt it would be long and drawn out. You would have violated a contract. Nothing more, nothing less.

Yes, but are you allowed to use them in commercial projects? My understanding of the Republique demo is that you are not allowed to and I wouldn't be surprised if that held true for the latter as well.

The Infinity Blade assets though don't seem to have this restriction.

You cannot use this with Unity, so I'm locking this.

Unity assets can be used freely with Unity authored content.
Unreal assets can be used freely with Unreal authored content.
