If you look at a real weapon, they are more detailed. And they do have trigers.

And ho exactly would i hold that?

Try to look at some reference! look up some real guns or sci-fi gun concepts and try to model one with all the little details and then come up with your own designs.
The best way to improve is to use your eyes and be very self criticizing!
Does it look like a real gun? or just a box and a cylinder patched together?
Guns have lots of different parts and lots of little details that make it work.
A gun has to look like everything on it has a purpose and a use.
Do not get discouraged, we all have to start somewhere and I'm sure if you keep modeling you will improve!

Only criticism I have is, I don't know how to hold it.

Lol guys, thanks for the feedback. i am using Maya, and i didn't add a trigger because i am using it for an FPS game, and the trigger doesn't come into view ever... to hold it, you just put the big part under your arm >.<

coin-god said it didn't look good because that's the truth.

And if it's for an FPS why haven't you deleted the ends of the barrel etc.? They will never come into view.

The trigger is actually visible in every single FPS I've ever played.

I'm trying not to be as rude as coin-god, but there's plenty of excellent weapon tutorials out there and after completing any one of them you'll be able to make some decent guns.

My first ever 3d model I made following this tutorial: http://www.moddb.com/tutorials/beretta-9000-video-tutorial

I made it in blender so using Maya shouldn't be a problem either. It's an excellent tutorial. If it's not hosted on moddb anymore I'm sure there's mirrors around.

A few tips that I use.

    1. Go on google search for a gun with similar parameters to yours or style.

    2. Get paper and a pencil and do a simple sketch with details from multiple references

    3. Master the model make it your specific polygon range and texture range.

    4. Bake your normals and specs

Thats usually my workflow with guns and items.

Never start a model without first planning or sketching :)
