Forum theme is too low contrast and bright

    Hello there.

This thread is made for mostly moderators and administrators of this forum.
I found the forum bright, low contrast and also having two addresses for threads (forum.unity3d.com and community.unity.com) is taking away the simplicity of the forum. Specially that I can't send message and reply posts with the 2nd address (community.unity.com) and interestingly the address nearly most of the times is shown before the other one in google searches.

Well I hope admins of this forum find this message helpful.

    Best regards.

This is an alternate forum theme that I like very much:
    https://userstyles.org/styles/132368/unity-forum-dark

The other forum is only there to remind us what bad things can happen, when you try out the Lithium forum-software. These were dark times (or rather blindingly bright if we are talking about forum themes) and you should consider yourself blessed not to have witnessed the "Lithium Incident" firsthand.

Would you explain more? Where is the theme option? And what is the "Lithium Incident"? I just think of Lithum battery explosion when you say that!! which is complete irrelevant to this thread.

You need a browser addon called "stylish". I'm using firefox, I don't know if the addon is available for other browsers or browsers on tablet devices. I can't quite remember how I installed the theme that I linked, but I think after installing stylish it pretty much is just 1 click on the button on that userstyles.org site to install it. Ask @zoran404 if you need more info, he is the author of the theme.

Regarding the lithium thing I'd link you a thread with hundreds of angry posts outlining in detail what was wrong with the lithium forum software, but that thread is in the old readonly forum, and it's too broken for me to navigate it to find the thread. The page keeps auto-reloading every second in my browser, making it completely unusable. Problems like this (and many others) were present for quite a few users even while that forum was officially the new and only unity forum. It took torches-and-pitchforks-levels-of-uproar to get this old forum rolled back (this one is powered by the Xenforo forum software - which is great!). The whole incident was frustrating and scary for many of us, and is since called "The Lithium Incident", named after the social media & forum solution they tried to use ( http://www.lithium.com/ ). Well actually mostly I started calling it that and half a dozen or so people went with it ;).

Well this is not an official forum theme, I meant an actual official dark themed Unity forum theme could be better than what it is now.
    Aha, Ok.
Well actually I saw the so called refreshing-bug while I was visiting the forum, it is completely broken. I don't care what brand they had been using before or are using now, the forum is still useless and I can find no point being that forum online unless someone logically proves it is not. These are all my opinions, though.

It took a lot of effort to even get this forum back on.
Meaning unless you manage to get hundreds of people complaining you're not going to make anything happen around here.

But if you don't mind installing Stylish, a plugin available for pretty much every popular browser (even the mobile version of firefox), you can go to userstyles.org and search for community made themes.

Youtube has a bright theme as well and they have no plans to go dark either, so if you want to save your eyes you'll have to find a community made theme for that as well. Dark youtube theme 'darktube' is my favorite.

The new posts created in that forum couldn't be transfered back to this forum. That's only reason it's still up.
Also all the posts that were here were copied there before the forums were swapped, that's why that forum comes up in search results.

I'm using Stylish for almost everything, it has great skins for Unity forum, Facebook, and a lot of other sites... highly suggested to everyone!

Unfortunately I'm not convinced that's the only reason it's up. If you recall, beyond just being ugly and difficult to use, the Lithium Overdose was also very buggy (and still is; whenever I accidentally go to the other URL, the page refreshes over and over...). When they unveiled the Connect feature at Unite, all I could think is that it looks like Lithium. I have a strong feeling the rollback had less to do with the complaints than we'd all like.

But your CSS fixes are greatly appreciated! The other day I visited the forum on a different machine and was shocked at the difference, I had forgotten I was running your fix.

Same here, I switched browsers and for a moment I thought they have rolled back the lithium forum again without a warning.

@MV10 Yeah, I saw this image in a lot of places, including t-shirts.
The image is freely available, that's probably why :)
